Chapter Eight

Kasey woke to the sweet scent of honeysuckle blooming just outside her window, as dreamy images of Sean faded from her memory. She smiled until she realized it was not just any dream that lingered in the hazy morning light. It was a sex dream, an erotic, steamy, climatic, sex dream! Just what she needed, Kasey thought, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. It was hard enough trying to avoid her feelings for Sean, without having the images of hot sex between the two of them floating around in her head.

Kasey could hear Sean whistling in the kitchen. By now, she was sure he had already been for his morning run and showered. Throwing the covers off, Kasey grabbed her robe and headed to the bathroom; hoping Sean had left her some hot water. After a quick shower, she put on her favorite pair of jeans, a pink cashmere sweater and followed the smell of sausage down the stairs. On her way to the kitchen, she stopped and looked out the window to forecast the weather, when she noticed that Patrick’s car was not in the drive.

“Where’s Patrick?” She asked as she entered the kitchen.

“Good mornin’ darlin’,” Sean said as he stood in front of the stove preparing a large batch of eggs for breakfast. “He’s gone to Dublin on business,” Sean replied pouring her a cup of tea.

“Good morning,” she said taking the cup from him.

His dreamy blue eyes and tousled wet hair gave him a sexy, “come and take me” kind of look. Stop that Kasey! Do not go there, she thought as she struggled to bring the desire he stirred in her under control.

“Are you okay? You’re lookin’ a bit flushed Kay.”

“I am fine,” she quickly insisted. “When will Patrick be back?”

“Tomorrow mornin’. You’re stuck with me till then.”

Kasey choked on her tea as she imagined what might happen in Patrick’s absence.

“I thought we’d visit Casey and Sinead today,” Sean announced as he dished a plate of eggs for Kasey.

As her thoughts shifted to her grandparents, a worried look came over Kasey’s face. She remembered the reason for her trip. Her grandparents would have to be told about the article the Irish Times was about to run. Unsure how they would take the news, Kasey felt reluctant to tell them anything.

“Are ya worryin’ about your grandparents?” Sean asked.

“Yes,” she replied with a concerned sigh.

“Let’s not tell them about the story. Not just yet.” Sean’s strange request puzzled Kasey. “Patrick’s havin’ lunch the editor of the Times to see if he’ll keep Liam’s name out of the story. Now sit down and eat before your eggs get cold.”

“Do you think he’ll have any luck?” She asked.

“Aye, Patrick can be a very persuasive man.”

The two ate in silence as Sean thought about his talk with Patrick, and Kasey pondered the erotic dream she had the night before. Feeling both thrilled and embarrassed she tried not to look at Sean, she was sure that he would see the lust in her eyes.
